Our new home had wall to wall carpeting. Some like it, some dont. I abhor carpeting as I have learned carpets are homes and breeders of parasites and insects and hold dander and hair and pollen and all kinds of allergens and unwanted things. Vacuuming doesn't pick up those finer particles and one cannot wash carpeting nor lift it out for washing outside. It simply collects and continues to collect unwanteds for years.
It is toxic so it must go.
Ari says: ''Carpet: A honeymoon, breeding ground motel for microscopic, zoological body-snatchers; and an unpleasant-odor-trapper.
"Carpeting" means wall to wall with synthetic fibers, "rugs'' are area rugs of varying fibers.
Area rugs are much better as they can be lifted and washed. But pure wool rugs are even better as they have natural attributes that resist some nasty things. It is hyper-allergenic and organic, fire resistant, resists stains, is softer, doesn't crush, and lasts almost forever.
However bare wood floors are infinitely easier to clean and are beautiful in their own right. Ari has chosen bamboo flooring for the house.
Here are some before and after pics....in this one you can see the carpeting.......
carpeting removed from stairwell.....
New Wood for Stairwell. Will be stained to match the rest.
Bamboo Flooring laid down in Master Bedroom. Gorgeous !!!
LOVE the effect of the natural light from the windows upon the floors !!
Next the walls of the entire house will need painting in clean shades of whites.
Floors and walls are the bones of the house, they should both be beautiful and bright as they create the foundation upon which all else is built. They should be uniform and harmonious throughout the home. Nothing of beauty can be built upon shoddy foundations. All else is icing on the cake.
Lots and lots of painting coming up with non toxic paints that have zero VOC.
